Pharaoh, The Warrior

While our Pharaoh does like to sleep, he can be a brave little warrior as well. The other day I was sitting at the computer, when I heard a horrible, low pitched growling/howling sound. Fearing something was wrong with the little guy, I went to see what was wrong.

At the front door, the very large black cat (looking more like a panther!) from next door (who likes to sleep on our front step of an afternoon) was rubbing up against our security door, making the aforementioned horrible noise. On the inside of the security door, was the noticably smaller Pharaoh, trying to puff himself up as big as he could. Even at his largest, Pharaoh looked tiny compared to the panther from next door. But he held his ground. The panther then ran when it saw me (its very timid actually).

I picked up Pharaoh and his little heart was racing, but he'd been brave. I was very proud!

Pharaoh, The Hunter

While Pharaoh spends alot of time sleeping, he needs to do this because he is a ferocious hunter. He spends his days and nights stalking various prey: boxes, dangling tea towls, strategically placed kitty toys and his latest favourite, the blue rings from around the milk bottles.

In the picture on the right, you can see him jealously guarding his latest kill from any one who would take it.

He has taken to doing a gorgeous little growl when you try and take his favourite toy away. I know we shouldn't encourage this behaviour but it is so cute!
