This page will list recently released products that are will be available soon. In order to show these products I will link to either the manufacturers homepage or if one isn't available, a online shop selling that product. Linking to an online store in this section DOES NOT constitute an endorsement of that store.

  • Tags - Yes, these little suckers are taking over the scrapbooking world at the moment. The only online place I've been able to find tags in Australia is a shop that is for rubberstampers (they've been using tags for ages). Anyway, KraftyLady has a lot of tags, which I have been assured are acid and lignin free. The site is a bit disorganised, so if in doubt, email the owner, she's very friendly and willing to help. Look under "What's New", then "More New Tags", to find the round, metal edged tags and also the various traditional tags. Some are out of stock so email and ask if what you want is in stock.
  • Eyelets - the newest (and latest) Becky Higgins inspired craze!! Although, I will admit that I've played with these and they are FUN!! Although a pack of hundred sounds alot, its amazing how many you can use in one layout without it looking overdone!! Also, you can get away without using the setting tool if you grab yourself a phillips head screwdriver (not hubbies good one!!). Possibility of more colours being added soon. Also they are starting to come in new shapes (scalloped like a flower and heart shaped - but I haven't seen these in Oz!).
  • Suzie's Aussie Basics Paper - a new range of Australian designed and manufactured papers. Some lovely colours and designs. More to be added at regular intervals.

11th October, 2001

  • Sizzix - This is a new personal die cut machine put out by Ellison and Provocraft. This machine is selling for $99US with dies averaging about $10US. So far there are something like 100 die designs, coming in small, medium and large. The larger dies have up to four patterns on them. Will cut up to three pieces of paper at once, Fabric, Thin plastic (.020" thick), Poly foam, Felt, Foil, Paperwood Sheet, magnet and Leather. An alphabet, both upper and lowercase is available with potential for more to be added late. Word is that this machine WON'T be released in Australia until Jan, 2002.
  • Punch Pal and Paper Taker both from Crop in Style - the CIS people do it again with these two great storage aids for scrapbookers. The Punch Pal comes in two sizes, its a study device that hangs on the back of a door and comes with 50 pockets in the S/M and 30 pockets in the M/L for all those punches!! Each punch pal has straps so you can hang two from the one connected to the door.(But I think that would be very heavy on the door and the Punch Pal!). The Paper Taker is a paper carry case that will hold both 12x12 and 8.5x11 papers. It comes with nine dividers (including half envelopes for scraps).

28th May, 2001

  • Blade Runner - Check under What's New or Cutters. This little tool is the new incarnation of the Doodle Cutter. Its designed to be used with shape templates and will work (so I am told) with some thick plastic lettering templates. I haven't tried one of these yet but will give feedback when I manage to get hold of one.
  • Dotta-riffic Pens from EK Success - Check under What's New. These could be nifty for doing quick page borders.

27th April, 2001

  • Transparent Mounting Squares - These would be great for mounting vellum. Also, they are quite thin - great for mounting letters or other thin things. (Available at Scrapbook Cottage - not online).
  • Making Memories Alphabiggies - These letter stickers are 1 1/4". Great for doing titles.
  • 1/4" Photos Tabs - Great for those of us who hate having to cut up standard size tabs!!
  • Wendy's Paper Piecing Templates - These are great and growing range of paper peicing templates. The site gives some great layout ideas as well.

6th April, 2001

  • Aussie Themed Stickers - A new range of Aussie themed sticker, come in modules of 5.5" x 12.5". Currently Cricket and Aussie Rules but more will be added in the future.

You buy the basic Adult or Child or Baby template that includes body and hair, then buy additional templates with clothes and accessories (Fall, Summer, Formal etc). Email Beverely for details.

  • Reals Flower Stickers - Stickers made of real flowers that will bring the garden into any layout!!

5th March, 2001

  • Aussie Themed Patterned Paper - finally we are starting to get some Aussie Themed patterned paper. They come in two styles - what I would call heritage (sepia tones, dark colours etc) and a more fun, comtempory set features bright colours and cartoon koalas!! Both are well worth a look.
  • Teenie Genies - a new range of Journalling Genies from Chatterbox. They measure 6"x6" and are themed like previous genies (Kissy, Kissy, Best Friends etc)

24th Feb, 2001

  • Update on Newcastle Shop - word is that it should be open in 3 weeks time, around St Pats day. Should be able to give address and phone number soon. Location is pretty central I think.

21st Feb, 2001

  • EK Success Tracerkins - These are a set of templates for making paper dolls. The same family as the EK Paperkins but using a template. 6 patterns to start off with. There are also 48 new Paperkins available (check out the coming soon section at Two Peas).
  • EK Success ABC Tracers - The new ABC tracer patterns are also starting to hit the shops in the USA. They come in Grade School, Classic and Varsity.
  • Provocraft Great Shapes - These are pre-cut squares and other shapes, in a variety of sizes, using plain and patterned paper. They look great, especially since the papers all match.

22nd Jan, 2001

  • Scrap Packs - Australia now has a local provider of Scrap Packs. These packs are made up of themed paper, accents, and accessories sent out on a monthly basis. At the present time you can sign up for one, three or six months. The longer you sign up for the less you pay per month. Well worth a look.
  • Paper Packs - Sets of paper co-ordinate by colour and/or pattern. Available in both 12x12 and 8x11. More to be added to the site in the coming weeks.
  • Scrap Pagerz Lettering Templates - I love these!! They come in a variety of fonts and in 5 sizes (from 1" to 2"). FYI, the templates aren't stackable (ie you can't create matted letters with them) but they are still good if you need letters in a variety of sizes, especially the larger ones. Because of restrictions imposed by the manufacturer, you need to email Kay or Melanie to order these. But pics are up on the site.
  • 12x12 Paper Storage Folder - from Cropper Hopper. These folders are the best way I have yet found to store my 12x12 paper. Made of a stiff, clear plastic, they protect the corners of your paper while still allowing you to see what is inside. They hold about 100 sheets of paper. Please note, these aren't up on the site yet but if you email Amanda, she can send them to you.

13th Jan, 2001

  • Flannel Paper - A new paper from Paper Adventures, this has a texture similar to flannel, but not quite as fluffy. Would be great for beach layouts (for towels) or for close for paper dolls (bath robes etc). Another great paper for adding texture to layouts.(Not on the website yet, but email Beverley about these!)

7th Jan, 2001

  • Newcastle Scrapbooking Shop to Open Soon - I have been informed by a little birdy that Novocastrians can soon look forward to having a lss (local scrapbooking shop)! Woo hoo!! The shop should be opening in Feb if all goes well and is close to both buses and train. It will be a scrapbook superstore, similar to the one found on the Gold Coast and Sydney. Will be called "Scrapability". Website to come soon, phone contact on: (02) 49 53 92 22.

21st December, 2000

  • A whole new range of EK Success and Chatterbox Inc has just been shown in the USA. Some of them sound great, best of bunch for me, New ABC Tracers, Journalling Genies, Paper Shaper Alphabet Punches adn stickers. There is too much to put here, so visit the EK Success New Releases page for details. Sorry, no pictures yet.

20th November, 2000

  • Paper Storage Hanger - a great way to store A4 and 8 1/2 x11 paper. This system hangs on the back of a door or in a wardrobe and has a series of overlapping envelopes.
  • Scrapbooking Jewellery - a nice range of brooches and bracelets with a scrapbooking theme. They would make great secret sister or secret santa gifts.

15th November, 2000

  • Decorative Square Punches (Family Treasures) - I've finally managed to track down a shop that has all the Deco Square punches. I think these would make great title squares. The punch is basically a square with a scalloped edge. They come in a large variety of sizes (about 8 or 9). I haven't been able to find anywhere in Australia that sells the full range.
  • Gorgeous Ittybits - a set of lovely paper pieced Teddy Bears and other characters made from Velveteen papers. Very cute!! More designs to come. (Click on the link, then Page Enhancements, then Paper Pieceing!).
  • CIS Navigator Tote - This new tote is slightly bigger than the XL but smaller than the XXL. A good size tote with all the flexibility you'd expect from CIS.
  • Pagerz Alphabet Templates - I love the look of these for a couple of reasons. They are come in a good variety of styles (12 designs) and they also come in a variety of sizes (1”, 1.25”, 1.50”, 1.75” and 2.0”). (Pictures of templates).
  • New Coluzzle Templates (Border 1, Border 2 and Blurb) - a couple of new templates for the Coluzzle range. I'm not sure what the length on the Coluzzle border is, best to check before buying.

5th October, 2000

  • The Letterman - be prepared to pick your jaw off the ground for this one. A new entry into the field of alphabet punch sets. The Letterman costs about the same price as other sets (approx. $125 US) but instead of only upper or lower case, you get uppercase in two different sizes (1 1/4" and 1/2") with the Letterman. I've only seen the webpage but I WANT one!! Also says that other punches will be coming out in the future. Apparently they are going to increase in price after Christmas but this is unconfirmed.
  • Gorgeous Ittybits - a set of lovely paper pieced Teddy Bears and other characters made from Velveteen papers. Very cute!! More designs to come. (Click on the link, then Page Enhancements, then Paper Pieceing!).
  • Chatterbox Inc - a whole new set of products from the Journalling Genie people. The most desirable at the new lettering templates. There are currently three lettering designs. Each pack comes with upper and lower case and I think some misc patterns that could be used to decorate paper with embossing (letters are 1 1/4" and 1"). A nice touch with the templates is that the holes inside letters are also supplied, something not done on alt of other lettering templates. These can be used in a traditional manner or can be teamed up with the new Empressor dry embossing tool to create 3D letters. On a more fun and indulgent note, the Crop Cushion! This cushion will make those hard sets at crops a litte softer with the added bonus of pockets that sit over the side of the chair. All these new products will be shipping 31st Oct, 2000.
  • Cropper Hopper Paper Doll "Templatots" - a set of paper doll templates from Cropper Hopper, Basic, Sports, Dress-up and Faces so far.
  • Sticker Keepers - great for Mrs G Design Lines etc. Comes in two sizes, 13"x 3" and 13"x 5". Polypropylene concertena type folder for storing stickers. Also Scrapbook Keeper Envelopes and Die Cut Keepers in various sizes. Produced by Classic Trio.
  • Battery Operated Punch System - for all those with sore hands from punching a battery operated punch systems that does the work for you!! Coming Soon.
  • Photo Corner Punch - Not to be confused with a photo corner slot punch, this punch actually cuts out the piece that can be folded into a photo corner.
  • Puzzle Punches - These punches create jigsaw puzzle shapes. They can be used to form borders or title squares.

24th August, 2000

  • Voice Maker (pick Voice Maker from the drop down menu) - A 10 second recording device that you can decorate and add to your album. It lets you record a message, or perhaps your babies first words.

1st August, 2000

  • 12x12 Outback Papers - These papers come in a variety of "Outback" colours, would be great for doing camping layouts or trips to the Rock.
  • 12x12 Storage Envelopes (look under Misc) - These are great for grouping your papers, die cuts etc ready for scrapping. They are also available in 8x11 size.
  • New Online Aussie Shop - now open. Called Scrapbooking Corner, it offers a variety of scrapping supplies including the ProvoCraft ScrapPads.
  • Plan-A-Page (look under Templates) - by EK Success. A great way to get a consistant look in your pages, these templates help plan pages by providing a premade layout with journalling lines.
  • CIS XXL Tote - What can I say, I WANT one!! (Price is $215 with free shipping at Scrapbooking Paraphenalia).
  • Dress It Up Templates - a set of templates giving a variety of clothes and other accessories.
  • Stencil Punches - a new type of punch that gives you a stencil effect. Not sure what you would use them for but an interesting idea.

26th July, 2000

  • Hot Off The Press Demos at Melbourne Craft Show - This from the Net - "Anyway, for those of you who were interested in the Australia show, we'll be offering a total of 10 classes on scrapbooking: five on paper piecing and five on using patterned papers. We don't have the final schedule, but it looks like the classes will start every day at about 10:00 am and will repeat again later that day. The show is at the Caulfield Racecourse and the show is open from 10-5 daily, Sept. 6-10th."

I've written to the person who posted this to ask if they will be doing this at the Sydney shows (either Rosehill or Darling Harbour in June). I will let you know the response.
  • HOTP have some great new papers, including Velvet Look, Heritage Charm Punch Outs, Wild Things Animal Prints and Painted Vellum.

21st July, 2000

  • 12x12 Patterned Vellum - This paper is very nice. It comes in a variety of colours/themes. Plain white vellum with white pattern.

17th July, 2000

  • New Online Aussie Scrapbooking Store - Looks like there is another online, Australian based scrapbooking store about to open. It should be opening on July 31st, 2000.

14th July, 2000

  • Coluzzle - This little template system is causing all sorts of frenzied emails. Those people that have this system swear by it. I haven't had the opportunity to use it but it looks interesting. Its made up of a swival knive, a cutting mat and a variety of templates which come in different shapes and is also available in an alphabet template. This system is pretty expensive (the cheapest templates I've found available in Australia is $15 for normal and $35 for the alphabet), but it seems pretty versitile.
  • Mounties - (the white section is what is punched out) - this is a variety of photo mounting corner punches from Emagination. Similar to a corner slot punch, they cut out a decorative section that allows you to slide in pictures for mounting. They also have a matching range of traditional corner punches in heritage designs. At the moment, according to Emagination, no one sells these punches in Australia. To see what they look like, check out the Gallery.
  • "Scrapbooks" Magazine - published by American Better Homes and Gardens magazine group is now available in some Australian newsagents. I was able to pick up the Summer 2000 edition. If memory serves, it comes out four times a year. The copy I got has lots of layouts, using techniques a bit different from CK and MM. And the biggest difference is the 5 pages of patterns at the back for making the special sections of the layouts in the magazine. It has about 100 pages, ALOT less ads than either CK and MM and I bought it for $14.

26th June, 2000

  • Update on the MAMBI Heritage stickers. These stickers are NOT printed on clear material, like all other MAMBI stickers. They are printed on white paper, so they will work just as well on dark or light paper. Although printed on white paper, there is no white around the edge of the pattern and the pattern goes all the way to the edge.
  • Gelly Roll Journals - While not technically for scrapbooking, they'd make great journals. If anyone sees these for sale either online or offline, could you email me?
  • "Scrapbooking Memories" an Australian Scrapbooking Magazine - should be out sometime near the end of this week. It will probably hit specialist stores first, then the newsagents. It is published by Express Publications.
  • VersaMark Watermark stamp pad by Tsukineko. This pad allows you to use any stamps to create a "watermark" effect on paper. I have found that the mark comes out darker on dark paper, and is much more subtle on lighter coloured paper. However, this is a great tool for scrapbookers who are looking for a way to use co-ordinated papers. By using the same stamp on several colours of paper, you can create your own range of matching patterned paper. Most rubber stamp shops should carry this product. Visit Watermark Stamp pad - Scrapbooking@About.com for an example of what this technique looks like.

18th June, 2000

  • Overalls - These are great. They consist of a top and bottom, related to a single theme. For example, School Days, has that saying, on a blackboard for the top, the bottom consists of various school images (bus, globe etc). They come as a single sheet that you cut in half. Will fit either a 8"x11" or 12"x12" page.
  • Diamond Dust and Velveteen Paper - The Diamond Dust comes in a variety of about 26 colours, including a great gold and silver. I has a sparkle texture to it. This sparkle is more obvious on the darker colours. I really like it but I'm not sure how I am going to use it. But it would be great to give pages that little bit of extra "oumpf". It comes in 12x12 size. The Velveteen is a very subtle and classy look. The paper actually has a velvety cover but not a crushed look. It comes in 9"x12", in about 18 colours. Would be great for adding a bit of depth, especially for more formal photos (formals, weddings, debs, balls etc). Both products are by Paper Adventures.
  • New Me and My Big Ideas Stickers - These include new pink and black alphabet stickers, a new range of Heritage border and accent stickers in gold, silver and tinted. Also school, sick kids, polka dots (just the dots and polka dot border). Click for just picture of new products (takes a minute or so to load).
  • Aussie Paper Doll Kits - Louise at Scrapbook Cottage has some great Aussie Paper Doll kits, saw them at the Sydney Craft Show. Themes like football (Rugby League at the moment but AFL is on the way), Cricket (Test and One Day), various other sports and activities.
  • Tonia Toddman Range - I spoke to the UR1 people at the Sydney Craft Show and in about 4 weeks, two new themes will be released - Heritage and Travel. The Heritage will be a two tone rose colour. The Travel will be a two tone tan with a more old world feel to it, old suitcases, men's toilitery set etc. The templates are the usual fair, personally, I think the shapes on them are too small to be useful. They are a bit small for die cuts or as journalling shapes, but OK to add some decoration to pages.
  • K and Company Adhesive Borders - These are come in several styles all of which would be great for Heritage Albums. The Ivory & Gold and Black & Gold look great with the gold being a strong, shiny foil gold. The Ivory & Foil is basicall one colour, but the pattern is embossed. A very subtle pattern but very effective. There are several other styles available. These border stickers have matching photo corners available. Each pack contains 4 x 12" strips with 13 square corners.
  • K and Company Embossed 12x12 Paper - This paper is really nice. Comes in lovely pastel colours, butterflys, leaves and baby theme (there is a vellum, embossed baby pattern, looks great!).
